MakerDojo provides the highest quality Holiday Programs for children, parents and the local community.
Our programs are designed with working families in mind, ensuring that they can continue in their work environment with confidence regarding the safety and care of their children.
MakerDojo’s programs extend beyond the typical Holiday Program by aligning with the Australian Curriculum and the My Time Our Place framework to provide and educational program for the children that promotes learning and development for each child.
The 4 pillars of our educational program are:
Multi-age learning:
Promotes leadership, problem-solving and critical thinking along with emotional and social support, independence, confidence as learners, and communication.
STEAM learning
STEAM learning guides student enquiry, dialogue and critical thinking with technical skills and knowledge.
Personalised learning
Customizes learning for each child’s strengths, needs, skills, and interests. It builds self-management, enables children to direct their own learning, encourages independent and interest-driven learning, risk-taking and resilience.
Sustainability
‘Learning Through Making’ by reusing, reducing, and recycling.
These 4 pillars are wrapped up in a bundle of child-centred, flexible yet structured routines that enable supported and extended learning opportunities aimed at developing technical skills alongside social and personal skills.
Every MakerDojo program is designed with a learning intention (learning objective) and success criteria (learning outcomes). Our programs incorporate the Design Process:
Define the problem.
Brainstorm ideas.
Make the solution.
Test, Reflect and Iterate.
To support the educators in delivering the educational programs, we design the programs around consistency and a commitment to high quality practice at all times by embracing our Teaching and Learning Model:
Connect – Share with children the learning intention and success criteria.
Explicit Teaching – Provide explicit instructions, model how to use the design process for making, and share examples.
Active Learning – Personalise the learning, challenge the children, and provide opportunities to apply their new knowledge in practise.
Reflection – Children and educators evaluate the children’s progress towards the learning outcomes.
The goals of MakerDojo programs are to:
Provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment.
Provide a wide variety of experiences and activities that are developmentally appropriate for primary-aged children.
Ensure we remain at the forefront of creative STEAM learning initiatives.
Cater to the social, intellectual, physical, recreational, and emotional needs and interests of all children.
Ensure that the needs of parents are acknowledged and respected.
Provide friendly, trained, sensitive, and co-operative staff.
Offer a caring environment that promotes positive attitude, personal growth, high self-esteem, and respect for others.
Ensure that our programs are regularly and continually reviewed and updated.
The MakerDojo Way (values) are:
Innovation
Safety and fun
Resilience
Passion
Adaptability
Sustainability
Consent - Statement of Philosophy

I have read and understood MakerDojo's Statement of Philosophy.
All staff, volunteers and board members of MakerDojo are required to observe child safe principles and expectations for appropriate behaviour towards and in the company of children, as noted below. All personnel of MakerDojo are responsible for supporting the safety, participation, wellbeing and empowerment of children by:
adhering to the MakerDojo child safe policy at all times and upholding the MakerDojo statement of commitment to child safety at all times.
taking all reasonable steps to protect children from abuse.
treating everyone with respect.
listening and responding to the views and concerns of children, particularly if they are telling you that they or another child has been abused and/or are worried about their safety or the safety of another.
promoting the cultural safety, participation and empowerment of Aboriginal children (for example, by never questioning an Aboriginal child’s self-identification).
promoting the cultural safety, participation and empowerment of children with culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds (for example, by having a zero tolerance of discrimination).
promoting the safety, participation and empowerment of children with a disability (for example, during personal care activities).
ensuring as far as practicable that adults are not left alone with a single child.

responding as quickly as possible to an allegation of child abuse, and ensuring as much as possible that the child(ren) are safe.
encouraging children to ‘have a say’ and participate in all relevant organisational activities where possible, especially on issues that are important to them.
Staff and volunteers must not:
develop any ‘special’ relationships with children that could be seen as favouritism (for example, the offering of gifts or special treatment for specific children).
exhibit behaviours with children which may be construed as unnecessarily physical (for example inappropriate sitting on laps. Sitting on laps could be appropriate sometimes, for example while reading a storybook to a small child in an open plan area).
put children at risk of abuse (for example, by locking doors).
do things of a personal nature that a child can do for themselves, such as toileting or changing clothes.

ignore or disregard any suspected or disclosed child abuse.
By observing these standards, you acknowledge your responsibility to immediately report any breach of this code to MakerDojo Child Safety Officer Jeremy Kalbstein. If you believe a child is at immediate risk of abuse phone 000.
