MakerDojo’s 2021 Term 3 Holiday Programs

23 September 2021 – Maker Arcade (Marble Run)

This is our most popular program.
Using cardboard and other recycled materials, your kids will have the opportunity to make a marble run or whatever tickles their fancy such as a claw machine, basketball shooting, skee ball, kerplunk, and so much more. The only limitation is creativity.

Drop off time:

Full day: 8.30am. Please note: there is no supervision prior to 8.30am

Half day morning: 8.30am.Please note: there is no supervision prior to 8.30am

Half day afternoon: 1.00pm

Pick up time:

Full Day: 4.00pm (standard day) or 6pm (extended day)

Half day morning: 12.00pm

Half day afternoon: 4.00pm (standard day) or 6pm (extended day)

Please note: All makers must be signed in and out of the program each day by an authorised person registered with MakerDojo.

Bialik College, Tooronga Rd Hawthorn East.

MakerDojo will be in the Mifgash (multi-purpose room). To get to the Mifgash, enter via Tooronga Rd and head down hill, keeping the buildings on your right. The Mifgash is the last room before the courtyard with a water feature and the statue of Mr Bialik.

Comfortable clothing, appropriate to the weather including a hat. No thongs or open-toed shoes please.

Please pack a morning and afternoon snack as well as lunch and a water bottle. Due to possible allergies, please do not pack nuts or nut-based products.

We will have breaks in the playground during the day so please also pack a hat and any sporting equipment your child might like to use (e.g. football).

We will have sunscreen available but please pack sunscreen if your child has allergies or sensitivities to sunscreen. If your child has asthma or allergies, please bring a copy of their Asthma and/or Anaphylaxis Management plan, along with any labelled medication.

Each day is different and incorporates different learning areas of STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics).

Children also learn and put into practice the Design Process whilst developing their:

  • Measurement
  • Creative and innovative thinking
  • Resilience
  • Adaptability
  • Collaboration
  • Engineering and Mathematics are the 2 main learning areas covered in Maker Arcade: Labyrinth.

    Full day: $95 per child per day.

    Half day: $50 per child per day.

    We are a Child Care Subsidy (CCS) provider. To claim your subsidy, please fill out the registration form (orange) below.

    We also offer extended care from 4-6pm for an additional $25 per child.

    27 September 2021 – Maker Makey (Operation)

    Participants will design, make and code their own Operation game using a range of equipment and recycled materials. Once all Operation games have been made, everyone will have the chance to test their medical skills operating on each other’s game characters.

    Please note that your child will be able to take their Operation game home. Electrical components sold separately.

    No previous coding experience required.

    30 September – Maker Fidget Toy

    Fidget toys are all the rage. Give your kids the opportunity to make their own fidget toy.

    Participants will make an Infinity Flextangle or a Fidget Spinner out of recycled and recyclable materials. A flextangle is a combination of a hexaflexagon and a zentangle design. And a Fidget Spinner… well, who doesn’t know what a fidget spinner is by now.
